I love giving gifts that I would enjoy getting myself. This is one of those gifts. The California Wine Club is the perfect gift for that someone on your list that may have everything and you just cannot think of one thing that would be the "perfect" gift. If you are not familiar with the California Wine Club, here is a little information about them from their website.
California Wine Club is now celebrating 20 years of business and the wine adventures keep getting better! Owners, Pam and Bruce Boring knew that there were hundreds of small, family-owned wineries dedicated to producing exceptional wine ... and it was this wine that they wanted to share with their monthly wine club members. Each month they travel California's wine country searching out the wineries, meeting the families and tasting the wines that never make it to local stores or wine shops.
With four wine of the month clubs to choose from, we have wine selections and wine gifts to suit all tastes and all budgets. To learn more click any of the following links:
Premier Club - Our most popular club!
Signature Series - For collectors and connoisseurs!
International Selections - From small "mom & pop" wineries around the world.
Aged Cabernet Series - Napa's most prestigious Cabernets aged 8 - 12 years.
As you can see from their selections, there is a club for everyone on your shopping list. I have received a two month subscription to review. My first month's selections arrived and we were very excited to give them a try. I received two bottles from the Robledo Family Winery – “The Seven Brothers”. One white wine and one red wine. Sauvignon Blanc and Tempranillo.
We tried the Tempranillo first and it has a bold deep red color and spicy flavor, which is something that we love. The suggested food pairings for this wine is seafood paella, grilled vegetables or chicken enchiladas. The other bottle that we received was a 2008 Sauvignon Blanc. I prefer white over red so this one was my favorite. It was very enjoyable, well balanced, goes well with just about any type of food. Food pairing suggestions are tuna, fresh oysters, or a light salad.
I have seen wine clubs but never really thought about trying them. As I suggested before, if you have that person on your gift giving list that is hard to buy for, you would not go wrong by giving the gift of the California Wine Club. You can choose how many months you wish to give. The California Wine Club starts as low as $49.95/month which includes shipping and handling for the Premier Club, that includes two bottles. This popular option features handcrafted, award-winning wines and their entertaining magazine, Uncorked. This would make the perfect gift or treat this holiday season.
