Red, White, and Blue Cupcakes

This is such an easy recipe that I wanted to share it with you.  If you are in need of a quick dessert to take to a party for the holiday, this is it.  I found this recipe at Musings From A Stay At Home Mom and Erika has been gracious enough to allow me to share with all of you. Thank you so much, Erika!

Here are the items that you will need to make these cupcakes:
  • 1 box of White Cake Mix (ingredients for the cake mix, oil, eggs, and water, I use milk in place of the water.)
  • Red and Blue Food Coloring
  • 1 Can of Vanilla Frosting
  • Red, White and Blue Sprinkles ( I used only the Red and Blue)

First mix up your cake mix as direct on the box.  Then equally divide your mix into three parts.

It will be approximately 1 1/3 cups per bowl.  Add your red and blue food coloring, red in one and blue in another.  Mix the food coloring in well and of course, add food coloring until you reach the desired color.  Line your cupcake pan with cupcake papers.  Fill each of the cups beginning with the red batter. I added about 2 tablespoons.

Then follow with the white batter for the center and then the blue.  Pop those in the oven at 350 degrees for about 20 minutes.

Before frosting, be sure and let them cool completely.  I took the easy way out and used the Easy Frost from Pillsbury and it is really good.  This makes it super easy to frost.  Once the cupcakes have cooled, frost all of them, sprinkle with your sprinkles and there you have it.  Quick and super easy.
