Mamavation Monday


I am going to go with the topic of conversation for tonight's Mamavation TV, working out at home.  I don't belong to a gym and I haven't for many many years.  In the past, I have joined gyms, only to dish out oodles and oodles of money, and not show up.  All those initiation fees and monthly fees I have wasted over the years, probably has added up to a great deal of money that I could have just as well thrown into the garbage.  I know that a gym works for some of you out there but for me I have found that working out at home works and I have lost weight doing just that.  Kudos to those of you that have gym memberships and go to the gym.  

Some of the tools that I have at home that I can utilize are my treadmill that my husband bought me and I get lots of walking and running done on it.  I use it alot during the winter months when it is too cold to get out.  I purchased a couple of 5 lb. hand weights that I use when I am walking and also do several exercises for my arms with them.  We purchased a Wii and Wii Balance Board about two years ago and I have several workout's for the Wii and Wii Balance Board.  I initially bought the Biggest Loser for the Wii and that is how I lost 60 pounds last year.  I also recently found out that my local library offers two Zumba classes on Saturday mornings for FREE that is sponsored by a grant from a local hospital.  

This past Saturday Mamavation celebrated its 3 year anniversary and in celebration of that, hosted a virtual 5K.  I started my Saturday morning off participating in this virtual 5K and walked 3.25 miles.  It was a great way to celebrate with others participating and tweeting out all of our sweaty pictures for all of Twitterland to see.  It was truly a great feeling to have been able to participate with the others in this.  It was such a success that we may even make it a monthly event, so stay tuned, because you can join in too!  The more the merrier!  

Also, beginning this  morning, the Campaign 9 2 week challenge began. So I started off my Monday morning, feeling motivated to participate in my third 2 week challenge.  I love participating in the 2 week challenge and seeing how much of a benefit the exercises are.  

What will you do this week to get active?  Will you work out a home or in a gym that you belong to?  It really doesn't matter where you work out, as long as you just do it!

  1. I can't get myself to go to a gym, either. I'd much rather work at home, and I have a bunch of different DVD's to do on my XT days to keep it interesting :) I also run on my treadmill :)

  3. I'd also much rather work out at home-that's usually how I get all my working out in! :) Good to hear the burpees get a little easier over time!
