I love when this time of year comes around and the Farmer's Markets are filled with fresh fruit and vegetables. It is a true sign that summer is finally here. The Farmer's Markets also give me a chance to buy from local people who actually grow their fruits and veggies right in their fields. I will support my local businesses when I can because I know how it is to be a small business owner. It is not an easy thing to do.
I have a little market just up the street from my house that I visit throughout the year. The little gentleman that runs it, does his very best to keep as much fresh fruit and veggies around all year around as he can. I love stopping in and having the friendly conversation with him. This definitely something that you do not get when you are stopping by your local chain store. In the few years since I moved to the area that I live in now, I have always visited the little market and pretty much gotten all of my fruits and veggies from him. I have never gotten one product from him that was bad. As a matter of fact, most of the time he will throw in a few extras for me. I think it means a lot to him that I come by and shop from him and I know it means a lot to me to know that I am getting quality produce. So, if you have a chance visit and buy from you local little guy. You never know where it might take you.

I love the Farmer's Market too & try to buy as much locally as possible.
ReplyDeleteI love the farmers market, and where I live, there are TONS of farms, so much better than living in the city! Who Knew?
ReplyDeleteI love Farmers Markets too. It's usually not much more than the grocery store (sometimes even cheaper) and I feel great about supporting local businesses, plus getting fresher produce.
ReplyDeleteWe have a local farmers market but never have been there.
ReplyDeletethanks for sharing! I love farmers market I think that they also have more fresh produce and cheaper prices

ReplyDeleteWhere I grew up we had an amazing farmers market! The one here is lame :O(
ReplyDeleteI don't get to go to these as much as I would like to. The ones around here are treated more like special events, and they are not held regularly. It would be nice if the people in my city would support local growers more.
ReplyDeleteI love farmer's markets as well. Looks delicious! I also like to use localharvest.org to do crop share with local farms to help support them!
ReplyDeleteI love supporting local farms.

ReplyDeleteI love going to the farmer's market as well!! I really miss Portland's Farmer's Market (downtown)...loved the food they served
ReplyDeleteThe farmer's market is only 1 1/2 blks from my house, and I love that we can go buy fresh produce from a local farmer. However, this year I was disgusted with the fact that there was a fair food vendor set up there!!! Like hot dogs for $3!!!! and lemon shake ups for $5! Is it wrong of me to think that this was an inappropriate place for this food vendor?
ReplyDeleteI love our local farmer's market. And your post reminded me that today is market day. Sweet! I know where I'm headed this afternoon.
ReplyDeleteooh la la - you found my heart. Love fresh produce!!
